Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and the morning buffet at the Doge is a delight for the eyes and the palate: our buffet has homemade cakes, pies and muffins fresh from the oven, and there are also croissants, cereals, yogurt, eggs, cold meats, juices and much more besides. Breakfast is served from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
We like to eat and drink well at the Doge and we especially like to get to know a place through its food. That’s why we offer many dishes in the local tradition, favouring in particular the freshest, Mediterranean flavours suitable for the hot weather, but without neglecting the best known and appreciated Italian specialities. Our chef and his team mostly use fresh ingredients to prepare the dishes on the menu, served at table, which provides a choice of three first and three second courses, offering more succulent dishes along with lighter, simpler fare. As we are located on the Abruzzo coast, fish is a must and so there is always the option of fish, shellfish or mollusc based dishes on the first and second course menus. The vegetable buffet and starters are a feast of colours and flavours and perfect for those who want to go straight back to the beach after lunch and don't want anything too heavy. There’s a fresh salad buffet at dinner as well. Abruzzo is a land of excellent wines and our wine list includes local produce of excellent quality at the right prices, as well as a selection of fine national wines and international beers. Water to accompany meals and throughout the day is free.
The restaurant is open for lunch from 12.45 p.m. to 1.45 p.m. and, for dinner, from 7.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. Full board includes lunch on the day of arrival. Those who arrive in the afternoon can have lunch on the day of departure, as long as we have tables available. Only in some rare cases it might be necessary to perform shifts: lunch at 12.30 and 13.30, dinner at 19.30 and 20.30.
Especially if there are children in the family who don’t want to spend too long at table, our service is very quick and efficient, but not at the expense of attention and friendliness. The baby buffet, with broth, vegetable soup, noodle soup and homogenised baby food is ready at 12.25 p.m. and at 7.10 p.m. so the very young can eat without too many distractions and before they become too tired.
